Buildings and improvements
The Campus of Tomorrow is growing at a record pace. Two ground breaking ceremonies were held just one week apart in July, 2009. New buildings, using the latest in architectural and environmental techniques, are filling out the campus landscape, paving the way for students to enjoy the best available facilities.

Current Projects
Student Housing
More than 1,000 students are expected
to call Georgia Gwinnett College “home” in 2010, when Phase I of the
residence halls open for business. Each residence hall apartment
houses 4-12 students and includes a kitchen, multiple bathrooms and
living areas. Residence directors and advisors live in designated
quarters throughout the residential areas and each building features a
seminar room where students can hold activities – fully integrating
residence life into academic life. Financing for the housing will be
provided by the Georgia Gwinnett College Foundation and lease fees from the residents.
Student Center
The $17 million, LEED Silver Certified building will open in the fall of 2010. The GGC Foundation is facilitating the financing for the construction by way of $24 million dollars in bonds, with the funds flowing through the Foundation. The Student Center will be the hub of student life on GGC’s campus. It will contain student lounges, game rooms, meeting rooms and offices. The large venue of interactive space, which can be divided into smaller rooms, is the marquee of meeting and event space at the college. With built-in, state-of-the-art technology, this area will seat nearly 1,000 people and will support lectures, large meetings, conferences and other events. A large pre-function space is adjacent to the interactive space, as is a beautiful outdoor terrace. The Student Center will be home to the GGC dining hall, seating 700, and an enhanced Barnes and Noble Bookstore.
Completed Projects

Student Services Center
Also
known as Building D, the Student Services Center was an existing
structure that the GGC Foundation purchased and renovated at the southeast edge of
campus. It houses offices for the registrar, admissions, financial aid,
counselors, student accounts, disability services, and a presentation
room for visitors.
Fitness Center
In
January 2008, the GGC Foundation purchased the 36,862-square-foot
building and most of the equipment inside for $5.5 million, and by May
of that same year, it opened its doors to the GGC community. A campus
“makeover” included painting the exterior of the building while the
interior was re-carpeted, re-tiled, and re-painted. The GGC Fitness
Center houses a large gymnasium surrounded by an upstairs running
track, a junior Olympic-size swimming pool, a fully-equipped weight
room, cardiovascular training equipment, racquetball courts, aerobic
rooms, offices, locker rooms and saunas.
Parking Deck
Funded by the GGC Foundation and completed
in the spring of 2008, the five-story, 737-car parking deck boasts a
gleaming, high-tech design, with a brick exterior, brick and reflective
glass elevator tower and classic “G” logo emblazoned at the top of the
tower.
Valentine Enterprises
The purchase
of this 70,000 square foot building located adjacent to the College’s
property was financed using private funds from the GGC Foundation. The
purchase price of the building was $4 million, and includes 6.3 acres
of land. The acquisition of this property secures the southeastern
corner of the campus along Collins Hill Road. The building currently
houses Valentine Enterprises, a long-time Gwinnett company. Valentine
is consolidating operations and constructing new facilities in other
parts of the county. Valentine Enterprises will lease back the facility
from the GGC Foundation for three years while their new buildings are
being constructed. The future uses of the building include office and
warehouse storage space.
