Chad MillerMajor: Business Administration - Marketing

Graduation year: 2008

Where are you from? Dublin, GA

Where do you work? Self-Employed – I am the owner and operator of Miller Realty Solutions, LLC.

Clubs/Organizations you were a part of at GGC:
Student Government Association (Vice President) and GGC Rotaract

How has GGC helped prepare you for where you are today?
The business education I received from Georgia Gwinnett College has been essential to me as a small business owner. The fundamentals of business that I learned, such as finance, accounting and management, have played a vital role in the creation and execution of my business. More importantly, my concentration in marketing has helped me separate myself and my business from the competition. The knowledge of key marketing concepts, such as target marketing, consumer behavior and marketing research, have given me the competitive edge needed to turn my dream of being a small business owner into a reality.

Favorite memory about GGC: As odd as it sounds, my favorite memory of GGC are those long, late-night study/prep groups with my classmates in the B atrium. I built many life-long friendships through these and I also had a lot of fun during them.

Favorite professor at GGC: Dr. Sperro Peppas – Marketing
Dr. Peppas made school interesting to me for the first time. His genuine care for his students’ success and his ability to engage students during his lectures are parallel to none.

Advice for new students:
Don’t complain about the presentations and team exercises! I know many students complain (including myself) about all of the presentations and team work that’s required at GGC. However, it will help build your confidence and public speaking ability. After you leave GGC, you’ll find out just how much experience in these areas will help you in the real world.

What’s next?
In ten years, I would like my company to employ several management-level employees for its day-to-day operations; running without my constant involvement, allowing more time for me to possibly start a new venture. I would also love to see the company branch out to reach other areas of the state, if not the country. Finally, I would like to still be involved with the College and possibly move my residency to Gwinnett County.
